After checking the patch file in detail there were individual codes for: the widescreen itself another to fix the character portraits so theyre not stretched (which is pretty important, since they appear in all dialogue scenes and are the main visual representation of the characters) another for the FMVs which were already widescreen, so instead of being stretched to ultra-wide with black bars on top and bottom they actually fill the whole screen and maintain aspect ratio and finally another code to fix the fonts, so the text doesnt get stretched and instead maintains the correct proportions.

Add to that the fact that the game itself scales gorgeously to higher resolutions and you basically got a full blown HD remaster for free (or at least the price of the original game).

It means that the ram space provided and the operations inside out are accurate.

Either that or these codes use search functions.

Unfortunately, you just cant go in and say replace this texture because its never in the same location twice.

The texture packs shown here get points for being higher resolution but they dont really fit the art style of the game itself very well aside from those rather nice stock icons.

Whispy Woods in Dream Land there in particular looks like the person making the texture wasnt aware of what the character looks like in the source games that Melee was referencing.
